At Musket Transport and CHET, creating real pathways into the transportation industry isn’t just a goal, it’s an ongoing commitment. Each year, the AZ Grant for Women helps remove one of the biggest barriers facing aspiring drivers: the cost of training. And in 2026, that opportunity has been awarded to a candidate whose story reflects both determination and passion for the road.

We’re proud to announce that Yaidelin Garbey Arencibia has been selected as this year’s AZ Grant recipient.
Garbey Arencibia was selected following a competitive application process and evaluation by a panel of judges including Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov (Musket’s Corporate Communications Officer), Pornruth Sirimuang (previous AZ Grant recipient and Musket driver), Sandra Graham (CHET Operations Manager), Mensur Xhemajli (Musket Driver Manager), and Anthony Dyal (Musket Fleet Manager).
“We all agreed that Yaidelin was the right candidate for this year’s grant,” said Sniegowski Begidzhanov. “She arrived prepared and early for her interview, demonstrated real-world experience delivering goods in her own vehicle, and has clearly thought through the realities of building a career as a professional driver. Her goal of becoming a long-haul cross-border driver shows both ambition and dedication to the profession.”

Originally from Cuba, Yaidelin immigrated to Canada in 2011 and has been working as a driver since 2014, delivering goods such as flowers using her pickup truck. Her hands-on experience with both manual and automatic vehicles, combined with her strong work ethic, made her a natural fit for the program.
But beyond experience, it’s her motivation that truly defines her journey.

“I love driving,” Garbey Arencibia said in her application. “Becoming a commercial truck driver will bring me financial stability and personal satisfaction. It will be a dream come true and something that will make my family proud, both my children here in Canada and my family back home in Cuba.”
Now, with her children older and more independent, Yaidelin is ready to fully commit to this next chapter, one that will take her from local deliveries to the open highways of North America.
The AZ Grant for Women provides full funding for manual AZ driver training at CHET, along with a pathway toward employment with Musket Transport. It’s more than training, it’s a launchpad into a stable, rewarding career.
And Yaidelin is joining a growing group of women who are reshaping the industry.
Previous grant recipient Jasna captured that journey well:
“Obtaining my AZ license will open doors to various opportunities, including local and long-haul trucking. I am prepared to handle the demands of this profession and committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism.”

Programs like the AZ Grant for Women are designed to do exactly that, they open doors. By supporting women entering a traditionally male-dominated field, CHET and Musket Transport are helping address industry labour shortages while building a stronger, more diverse workforce.
Yaidelin has begun her training at CHET, taking the first official step toward her goal of becoming a long-haul, cross-border driver.
If her story is any indication, it won’t be long before she’s out on the road, turning ambition into a career, one mile at a time.
