Musket Transport annually funds manual AZ driver training for women at their Private Career College, CHET. If the candidates successfully complete their training and pass the Ministry Road Test as well as Musket’s Carrier Road Test, they will receive an employment opportunity as a commercial driver.
The program’s goal is to remove the initial financial barrier of entry for women to join the transport industry. It is our hope to train and employ more women, hence our annual commitment. Qualities we look for in applicants include punctual, committed, responsible and respectful. You must be a resident of Mississauga for the scholarship application period from January-February or a resident of Burlington for the application in March-May. We expect recipients of the grant to arrive on time for appointments, demonstrate a readiness to learn and improve as well as complete home study.
Midway through the AZ program, the grant recipient will undergo an evaluation interview. If the recipients are unable to continue with the program, they will not face financial consequences. Take some time to review our MELT AZ program here and to view student driver requirements here. If at any time after the completion of the course the grant recipient would elect to leave Musket’s employment, the remaining total of their grant must be paid. A deduction of 1,000.00 from the grant loan for each month of employment. The total cost of manual transmission training is $7,500.00. For example, if the recipient has been driving at Musket for 3 months and have elected to leave, they would need to pay $4,500.00. Read the blog post for more information.
If you are ready to learn a skilled trade and conquer the roads confidently and safely, please apply!
