Partnering with the Salvation Army, Musket Transport rings in the festive season delivering containers of toys to help provide for families in need.

Christmas is a time of joy and giving, but for some families it can be a struggle to make ends meet. Every year, the Salvation Army runs several programs to help alleviate the stress and pressure that sometimes comes hand in hand with the festive season. For the past five years, Musket Transport has partnered with the Salvation Army to help facilitate their Toys for Tots program. And this year is no different.

“As most are aware, there are many variations of Santa Claus and celebrations over the holiday season,” said Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov, Corporate Communications Officer for Musket. “But the way we view drivers from around the world is as the “real” Santa Clauses. They tirelessly work to deliver toys and goods to us all. In an effort to highlight this fact we wanted to embrace the idea of Santa Claus in our campaign for the Salvation Army. Each year Musket stores and delivers donated toys to the Salvation Army Mississauga Temple. The hard-working volunteers and Salvation Army staff unload the containers and find homes for each toy.”

This year, Santa truly did lend a hand.

“This year, our professional driver Dean R, delivered the toys dressed as Santa Claus,” continued Begidzhanov. “We are grateful for his time and skills which he volunteers each year for this campaign.

The Toys for Tots campaign, is just one initiative organized by the Salvation Army, and runs annually nationwide. Local communities and businesses come together to help provide for families in need at Christmas.

“It is Christmas once again, and once again Musket Transport, The Salvation Army, and The Peel Police are hard at work preparing to help people in the city,” stated Joel Binner, Director of Community and Family Services at the Mississauga Salvation Army. “It has been a very hard few years for so many with the pandemic and we are honoured to partner with the Peel Police and Musket to help those folks who need it this year.”

Food Banks and social services programs use has increased about 35% since the start of the pandemic. Inflation has swept over the country and the cost of living has increased so dramatically that there are many families in the beautiful city of Mississauga that will struggle to provide for their family this Christmas.

“Food Banks and social services programs use has increased about 35% since the start of the pandemic… there are many families in the beautiful city of Mississauga that will struggle to provide for their family this Christmas.”

Binner continued, “This is why we at The Salvation Army are so grateful for working with Musket and helping provide a very Merry Christmas for over 2000 families this year with toys, gift cards, and food. Musket has provided the ease of storage and transportation to us in Mississauga and has done so for over 5 consecutive years. Musket has donated and provided us with the tools needed to allow us to meet this need in our community and helps us prepare every year for such a massive program and undertaking in our city.”

“Every year without question Musket plays a pivotal role in our Toys for Tots program. The company is always willing to go the extra mile and bend over backwards to help this cause. Their staff help prepare the toys every year and get them up to our sorting and distribution site. Just amazing. I want to personally thank everyone at Musket for their continued support and dedication to this program and to the city of Mississauga.”

From our family at Musket Transport and CHET to yours, we want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season!
