From Personal Support Worker to Professional Driver, Alexis C. embarks on a New Career Journey with Musket Transport’s Support.

Musket Transport is thrilled to announce the 2025 Hamilton/Halton Region Resident AZ Grant for Women has been awarded to Alexis C., a dynamic and determined individual ready to shift gears—literally—into the trucking industry.

“We are excited to announce Alexis C. as the recipient of our second AZ Grant for Women in 2025!” announced Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov, Corporate Communications Officer for Musket Transport. “This year, we expanded our search beyond the Region of Peel, focusing specifically on identifying a deserving candidate from the Hamilton and Halton Regions to receive free truck driver training. We’re eager to share updates on Alexis’s progress as she begins her journey. Meanwhile, our Mississauga-based grant recipient is nearing the completion of her training, and our runner-up has just passed her road test. We remain committed to supporting all our applicants in accessing training opportunities through CHET.”

Alexis begins her full-time AZ training this June, where she’ll be mastering manual transmission over a six-week intensive program. Her enthusiasm, adaptability, and work ethic stood out throughout the application and interview process, and Musket Transport and CHET are proud to support her as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.
Currently working as a personal support worker, Alexis brings valuable experience from the long-term care sector, demonstrating a deep sense of compassion and resilience. Prior to that, she worked in waste management where she became familiar with heavy equipment—an experience that laid the groundwork for her interest in professional driving.
She impressed the grant team during her free simulator session, showing both confidence and potential, and expressed strong interest in eventually becoming a US highway driver for Musket Transport. She’s excited about the growth opportunities available within the organization, including ongoing training and the potential to move across divisions.
Musket Transport is proud to continue its investment in developing a new generation of female professional drivers through grants and training support.
They believe that by removing barriers and fostering opportunity, they are taking intentional steps toward creating a stronger, more diverse, and more empowered workforce.
