An Uplifting Event Celebrates Diversity, Equity, and Opportunity in the Trucking Industry

Pride Month rolled into high gear in Burlington today as Musket Transport and Commercial Heavy Equipment Training Ltd. (CHET) hosted a vibrant, inclusive Pride Event & Showcase that brought together LGBTQ2S + organizations, allies, and industry professionals at CHET’s Burlington campus.
The event delivered on its promise of visibility, celebration, and career exploration in an industry ready to redefine its image. Attendees had the chance to engage in hands-on equipment demonstrations, network with inclusive employers, and explore training opportunities that are actively breaking down barriers for marginalized groups.

The showcase attracted high-profile guests and champions of inclusion. Craig Faucette, Chief Program Officer at Trucking HR Canada, remarked, “I was happy to visit our Top Fleet Employer Musket Transport, to attend their Pride Event & CHET Showcase in Burlington today. Events like this showcase how open and welcoming the trucking and logistics can be.“
The presence of political leaders also underscored the event’s broader impact. Effie J. Triantafilopoulos, MPP for Oakville North–Burlington and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming, stated: “I was delighted to join Musket’s Pride Celebration Showcase at CHET’s Burlington campus to recognize the vital role diversity and inclusivity play in building stronger communities. Our government is proud to support initiatives like the LGBT2SQ Youth Council and world-class skilled trades training that empower individuals and open doors to opportunity. Whether we’re celebrating Pride or investing in careers through programs like heavy equipment apprenticeships, we’re creating a province where everyone—regardless of identity—can thrive. Congratulations to Musket, CHET, and MAERSK for championing inclusion in industry and education.”
At the heart of the event was a clear and compelling vision for the future of trucking.

“The trucking industry has long been perceived as male-dominated, but there is no place for toxic masculinity or exclusion in today’s workforce,” said Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov, Corporate Communications Officer for Musket Transport. “At Musket and CHET, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment that welcomes individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and backgrounds.”
Musket and CHET’s dual role as both a private carrier and a registered Career College allows them to promote not only employment but education—taking essential steps to dismantle industry stereotypes and ensuring equitable opportunity.
The Pride event emphasized this dual mission, offering a welcoming space for guests to explore AZ and DZ training paths, meet CHET’s driver management team, and discuss real job opportunities with on-site recruiters.
Beyond just a celebration, today’s event was a call to action for the transportation sector. It served as a bold reminder that diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than buzzwords—they’re the driving force behind a stronger, more resilient future.
As CHET and Musket continue to steer the industry toward a more inclusive path, events like this ensure the road ahead is one paved with pride, progress, and purpose.
