Musket Transport Ltd. has been recognized as one of the Top Companies for Women to Work in Transportation by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT).

This annual distinction honours organizations that are actively building inclusive, empowering workplaces that elevate women in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Musket’s recognition reflects its deep commitment to supporting gender diversity through fair compensation, flexible scheduling, ongoing training, and clear pathways for advancement.
“Being named a ‘Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation’ is a significant achievement that highlights our company’s commitment to building an inclusive, empowering, and forward-thinking environment,” said Mensur Xhemajli, Driver Manager at Musket Transport. “In an industry that has historically been male-dominated, this recognition affirms our efforts in fostering gender diversity and equality across all levels of our organization. It reflects the success of our initiatives to enable women to thrive both personally and professionally.”
From Training to Transport: Women Building Careers through CHET and Musket
At the heart of Musket’s success story is its in-house training facility, the Commercial Heavy Equipment Training (CHET) division: a fully accredited driver training school that helps new drivers, including many women, begin rewarding careers in transportation.
Through the AZ Grant for Women, eligible trainees can access substantial financial support to earn their AZ licence, opening doors to stable, high-paying, and flexible work opportunities.
Graduates of CHET often move directly into positions at Musket Transport, gaining not only a job but also a community that invests in their long-term success.
Meet the Women Driving Change
Chauntel A.
“I’ve worked in many industries and decided to follow my Mom’s lead and become a truck driver. I chose CHET because they’re a well-established, accredited, and highly recommended company with instructors that have many years of invaluable experience and loads of wisdom to learn from. Everyone is very helpful, friendly, and professional. I’m glad I chose CHET and very grateful to have been subsequently hired on by Musket in the City Trailer division when I first started, 2 years ago. I’ve gained practical skills from CHET and during my time in the city pulling trailers, and now I work in the Container Division doing Interprovincial Long Haul going anywhere from Montreal to Halifax. I’ve recently trained to do B-Trains with Robert from CHET and again, his insights and expertise are worth more than money could ever buy. I am so grateful for the team at CHET and all of their help and advice.”
Chauntel’s story captures the core of Musket’s vision: empowering drivers to build skill and confidence at every stage of their career.

Viktoriya M.

“During the Covid time my Videography Industry was frozen. I was an experienced videographer with about 14 years in business at that time. I realized that I would like to have a more stable job and Transportation seemed to me as one of the greatest options!
Being promoted to Montreal Container division dedicated lines.
I am seeing more and more talented and professional women driving and getting into the Heavy Equipment industries. This is great! Women deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication! Opportunities! New ways to make money! Personal and professional growth! Safety first! Plenty of training to grow your skills. Transportation is a challenging industry, but definitely can open new doors and stability!”
For Viktoriya, trucking offered stability and growth. CHET and Musket provided the platform to turn that opportunity into a thriving career.
Donna G.
“I followed in my father’s and stepfather’s footsteps. I just love the freedom of the highway.
My proudest moment was when the female trucking association for women truck drivers out of Montreal, Quebec contacted me—they made a film recognizing all the women truck drivers in Quebec. There was over 35 of us back in those days. The trucking industry has changed a lot for women since I first started 40 years ago. There weren’t too many of us out there, and now we’re more recognized that we can handle and do the job just as good as a man does.
You guys give us the opportunity to grow with you and to understand where we come from. You also give us the opportunity to do what we like to do here—as for reefers, dry vans, containers, flatbeds—we have a choice and that makes it a good company for me.
Come aboard, it ain’t all that hard. If you’re afraid, you know what? There’s always somebody there willing to help you out. Don’t be shy, ask questions.”
Donna’s story spans decades of change in trucking, and her perspective underscores how far the industry has come and how Musket continues to lead that evolution.

Driving Forward Together
The recognition serves as both a celebration and a challenge: to continue advancing equality, inclusion, and opportunity for the next generation of drivers.
Musket’s ongoing partnership with CHET and programs like the AZ Grant for Women helps ensure that females entering the field aren’t just welcomed, they’re supported, trained, and empowered to lead.
